Major Species Known To Humanity
Since reaching the stars, Humanity has encountered numerous intelligent species. Many of them are elusive or barely known to Humanity, but some are dealt with almost daily.
Similar in appearance to humans, but they are uniformly taller. They don't look down on humans, per se, but they do find them amusing and petty. The Insa consider themselves an older, more mature race. They are, as a species, fit and trim. They have soft violet skin tones ranging from pinks to purples. Their skin color flushes colors to show moods (similar to human facial expressions). They are an older species than humans, but not by much (their civilization is roughly one thousand years older than humanity's). They love math, music, engineering, science, sporting games, performance, gymnastics, and other high-minded pursuits. They have a powerful military that is mostly automated, and crewed mainly with OIs. They are a peaceful species.
A non-Oxygen breathing species that must stay submerged in water to breath. Similar in appearance to squids found on Earth, but found in a range of colors, and with appendages more like limbs than tentacles. As a species they are secretive and distrusting. Their favorite activity is trading and making deals. Their contracts and legal prowess are legendary. They like competition, sports, gambling, and story-telling. Oxygen is not toxic to them, they tolerate being outside water for short periods of time. Their space ships are, naturally, filled with water. And, when external mobility is needed, they have self-contained suits which can propel them similar to bipedal forms of life.
Roughly humanoid with a distinctive pebbly blue-gray skin tone. They are amphibious relatives of the Callidun, from the same planet. Their hands and feet have webbing for swimming, and they have extra membranes that cover their eyes. They are as intelligent as the Callidun, but not as technologically advanced so they are treated as second class citizens.
