Sergeant Rogers is one of the three Marines in my novel, DISOBEDIENT INTELLIGENCE, keeping my main character, Aila Solas, alive. Rogers, along with Corporal Kowalski, is one of the two Marines assigned to protect Aila on the bridge when their ship is boarded.
Fiona Jayde was commissioned to do character art for my main character plus the three main supporting characters in the novel. I am putting up character art to make my author website "more visual" -- due to advice I got from the San Francisco Writers Conference. I know I don't get to pick the official cover art or character art for the novel since I am seeking a traditional publishing contract.
While Saitō is also a sergeant, she's an E-5 sergeant. Rogers is an E-6 staff sergeant. He technically outranks Saitō, but during the thick of the fighting the last thing he's concerned with is the rank on a person's sleeve. Like Saitō, Rogers is a natural leader, and he tends to take charge of most situations if nobody else steps forward. He's a calm and logical leader willing to listen to input from subordinates and peers alike. He's also fiercely loyal and committed to doing his job right, while blowing up as many bad guys as possible on his way out. He has more of a sense of humor than Saitō does, and enjoys joking with Kowalski off and on-duty, even when the bullets are flying.
Next character I'll be showing will be Corporal Alexander Kowalski. He's the other Marine assigned to protect Aila, and the joker of the group.
